According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On October 3, 2020, detectives in the St. Landry parish sheriff’s office were notified of a shootout on block 500 on Prairie Ronde Highway in the Opelousas area.”
Reports indicate that Stephanie Dore and the victim were having a domestic dispute over the phone. When the victim returned home shortly afterwards, she got out of the vehicle. Stephanie Dore then got into the vehicle and picked up a gun, which she immediately aimed at the victim. A gun fight ensued and the victim managed to disarm Stephanie Dore.
“A gun was also stored on a laundry shelf for protection and accessibility,” said Sheriff Guidroz. “Reports indicate that, once the victim removed the gun from Mrs. Dore’s hands, she then grabbed the gun in the laundry room and shot the victim in the stomach area.”
Stephanie Dore called 911 to report the shooting, reporting that the victim had a gun and was coming after her. She said she shot him in the stomach or in the side area, he was still breathing and a gun was located next to him.
While injured, the victim also managed to call 911 after hearing Stephanie Dore report inaccurate information to the operator. The victim claimed that Stephanie Dore aimed a gun at him and he disarmed it. He then stated that she aimed another gun at him and shot him.
According to the victim, both pistols belonged to Stephanie Dore.
On October 16, 2020, Stephanie Dore was taken to St. Landry Parish Prison and charged on charges of attempted second-degree murder
