Halloween is coming, and although the coronavirus may disrupt this year’s festivities, the Newport recreation team is busy planning a special trick or treat on the beach!
On Saturday, October 31, Newport Recreation will host a Spooktacular Halloween Drive-Thru at Easton Beach.
This family event will take place starting at the central parking lot on the beach and continue to the east parking lot, where children will play with the many vendors and community organizations.
All participants will remain in the vehicle at all times and masks are mandatory for everyone.
The cost of Spooktacular is $ 5 per child 2 years and older. Tickets can be purchased in advance at register.communitypass.net/cityofnewport. For more information, call 845-5800.
As part of the festivities, Newport Recreation is looking for community groups, organizations or individuals who would like to donate pumpkin lanterns to use during the event.
This is a great project for scout groups, sports teams, nursing homes, youth groups and families. Jack-o-lanterns can be dropped off at Easton Beach between 4pm and 6pm 28 to 30 October. For more information, call 845-5800.
