The VELUX Group and Schneider Electric partner to pursue renewable energy – About Your Online Magazine

Future PPAs aim to allow the development of new renewable energy projects in Europe, with Schneider Electric supporting the VELUX Group in the acquisition process as a complete advisor to the buyer. The VELUX Group’s main motivation is to reach its RE 100 goal and bring new renewable energies to the network.

This effort is part of the VELUX Group’s commitment to becoming a 100 percent carbon neutral company (scope 1 and 2). In addition, it is working to halve carbon emissions in its value chain (scope 3) by 2030. At the same time, the company will capture the entire historic carbon footprint of the Group – which dates back to its founding in 1941 – through forest conservation projects, identified and managed by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). Together, these initiatives should support the VELUX Group’s overall commitment to be Lifetime Neutral Carbon by 2041.

Future PPAs aim to represent a mix of clean technologies, with VELUX looking to guarantee a long-term commitment to buy energy at a fixed price. A PPA provides renewable energy developers with the business case needed to establish a new generation of clean energy. For VELUX, a PPA will guarantee stability and predictability in electricity prices and allow the company to address its scope 2 of greenhouse gas emissions.

The VELUX Group is pursuing new, unsubsidized renewable energy projects in EU countries, ensuring that clean energy is added to the network and thus replacing the “brown” energy produced from fossil fuels in the most additional way possible.

“The planet is facing a dual climate and natural crisis and we are committed to doing our part to achieve a more sustainable future.” said Jörn Neubert, senior vice president of supplies for the VELUX Group, “We are proud to be among the first companies in the world – and the first company in the construction industry – to take responsibility for past and future carbon emissions with our lifetime carbon neutral commitment, and this partnership with Schneider Electric is an important part of of this. “

“It is an honor to partner with the VELUX Group on its journey to accelerate decarbonization with renewable energy,” said Philippe Diez, VP EMEA Energy & Sustainability Services Schneider Electric. “The VELUX Group is an ambitious pioneer in the corporate climate and action in nature. Taking responsibility not only for the past impact, but also for future emissions, is innovative and inspiring. We are excited to accelerate its climate goals and support its final commitment to make carbon neutral for life in 2041. ”

The purchase of renewable electricity is part of the VELUX Group’s commitment to eliminate the company’s dependence on fossil fuel energy. The initial focus is on improving energy efficiency in all locations, as well as establishing renewable heating on site and renewable electricity resources on site using solar cells. Combined, this will help the VELUX Group to achieve its ambitious zero carbon target in all locations by 2030.
