MANCHESTER UNITED could receive an offer from Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva in the summer if Edinson Cavani’s contract is not renewed.
Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes hopes to orchestrate the move, with Frankfurt needing to raise funds to buy back Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.
Portuguese international Silva has been on fire in the Bundesliga this season with 18 goals in 20 games – second only to Bayern Robert Lewandowski on the scoring tables.
The 25-year-old has been linked to a transfer to the Premier League in the past after leaving Porto to join AC Milan in 2017 for £ 32 million.
The loan has since moved to Sevilla and then Frankfurt saw him sign for the latter in September, but England remains an attractive attraction.
The deal – which could be worth up to £ 30 million in pandemic times – aims to bring Jovic back to the club in mind.
Jovic, 23, left for Madrid in 2019 for £ 51 million after scoring 36 goals in two seasons in all competitions for Frankfurt.
But he became insecure and an outcast in Spain.
He is now back on loan with Frankfurt after returning through the January window, and the German club needs funds to save money and make it permanent in the summer.
BETS OF THE DAY: DON’T MISS TODAY’S BEST ODDS INCREASES
The 34-year-old Uruguayan striker joined the Red Devils in October on a one-year contract with the option to extend it for another year.
He impressed coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his attitude and professionalism, as well as a return of six goals in 17 matches.
But injuries in recent weeks may persuade Ole and United not to risk the aging star – and have only three months to make a decision about their future.
