NFL’s Texans donate $500K to Winter Storm Uri relief efforts in Houston – About Your Online Magazine

February 22 (UPI) – Team owner Janice McNair and Houston Texans are donating $ 500,000 to help recover from the winter storm that hit the area last week.

The Texans made a donation to the Greater Houston / Harris County 2021 Winter Storm Relief Fund. The grant will help local nonprofits to “meet the unmet needs of families who need additional help to recover, including assistance with plumbing and home repairs, temporary housing and other basic problems.”

Winter storm Uri caused significant damage in Houston and other areas of Texas, leaving large numbers of people without power and water. Some residents remain without power and many have suffered major damage to their homes due to low temperatures.

“We are happy to help our neighbors in difficult times like this,” McNair said in a statement Monday. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to [Houston] Mayor [Sylvester] Turner and [Harris County] Judge [Lina] Hidalgo for leading the humanitarian aid fund and for including us in recovery efforts.

“This city is full of strong and resilient people who will benefit greatly from these funds.”

Texans President and CEO Cal McNair has also been appointed to the advisory board of the Greater Houston / Harris County 2021 Winter Storm Relief Fund, which will oversee and administer the grant distribution process.
