Kathmandu, February 23 (IANS): Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s secretariat refuted rumors of Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel’s resignation, as reported by some media outlets on Tuesday.
Oli’s press officer, Surya Thapa, shared on Twitter that the news is false and urged people not to be swayed by these rumors, as everyone awaits the Supreme Court’s imminent decision in the case of the dissolution of the Chamber, reported the Himalayan Times.
On Tuesday morning, some media reports claimed that the Attorney General presented his resignation after PM Oli expressed his discontent with the way AG Kharel handled the case on behalf of the defense.
“It is unfortunate that some people have resorted to the disclosure of false information about the resignation of the Attorney General in an attempt to influence the situation surrounding the court’s impending verdict,” Thapa said.
The Supreme Court is expected to issue a verdict on warrant petitions filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the Chamber of Deputies on December 20.
