UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State was chosen to host the 2021 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament at Panzer Stadium. The seven-team field will compete from April 29 to May 2 in Happy Valley.

Regular season champion Big Ten will receive a farewell in the first round. The first round will consist of three games on Thursday, April 29. The winners of the first round games will proceed to the Big Ten semifinals on Friday, April 30.

The Big Ten final will be played on Sunday, May 2, with the winner guaranteeing an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.

All game times and TV network designations must be determined.

“We are very excited to host the Big Ten Tournament in Happy Valley,” said the head coach Missy Doherty. “Panzer Stadium is a great place to host some of the most exciting teams in the country. It must be a fantastic lacrosse weekend!”

Big Ten currently has five teams ranked in the top 20 in Inside Lacrosse and two more votes received.

This marks the first time that Penn State hosted the Big Ten Tournament. The last time that Lions of Nittany hosted a conference tournament was at the 2012 American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Tournament.

According to current Big Ten guidelines, public tickets will not be sold for Penn State’s 2021 Women’s Lacrosse home games.

The Lions of Nittany have a 2-0 start after knocking Maryland No. 7 15-15 on Sunday. Olivia Dirks led Penn State with five goals, the best of his career, including two in the final minutes, sealing the victory.

Penn State jumped to seventh in the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse polls this week.

The Lions of Nittany returns to action on March 5 and 7, while traveling to No. 4/3 Northwestern for a series of two games.
