Dozens of traders in the Community One Market Theme on Monday called on the government to support them with soft loans to help boost their business activities.
Traders in an interview with the Ghanaian News Agency on Tema said that COVID-19 The pandemic continued to have a serious impact on its business activities, while banks’ high interest rates compounded their problems.
Madame Dora Sarpong, a trader in used shoes and bags, said that COVID-19 The pandemic has affected its business due to rising item prices.
“This affected and eroded our financial base. We also take loans from banks; the interest is so high that they cannot pay, ”said Madame Sarpong.
She said that some merchants closed their stores due to their inability to repay loans they took from banks.
She said the government should support them with soft loans, which they could repay without fear.
