But some of these low-income families lacked the tools, technology or resources to send their information online to get the money. Others were unable to receive stimulus checks due to flaws or incorrect bank account information.

Claim your missing stimulus check

If you have not received a payment or if you have received less money than is eligible, you may be eligible to claim a recovery credit. For example, a child’s credit may not have been included in your payment.

To get the money owed, you must file a 2020 federal income tax return, including those who do not normally report taxes.

The IRS included a Recovery Discount Credit Worksheet instructions on Form 1040. If you are owing money, look for the Recovery Discount Credit listed at Line 30 of form 1040 for fiscal 2020.

The credit will be added to any refund or tax reduction due on your 2020 return.

The Free File Alliance, an IRS program that partners with private companies to provide free tax preparation to millions of filers, is available to those whose adjusted gross revenue was $ 72,000 or less in 2020.
