WIU hosting ‘Mask Up’ poster contest – About Your Online Magazine

MACOMB (WGEM) – The Western Illinois Department of Communication and the Social Media Lab are working together to bring awareness of masks to the city of Macomb.

WIU associate professor of communications Josh Averbeck said the idea came from the mask campaign that the University started in the summer.

“We did a few things, just trying to make the masks normal. That’s the main objective.”

Averbeck said the posters will be a good reminder for everyone to keep their masks on.

“Many people have been thinking about how they simply have their own behaviors for which they are responsible. I have to wear my mask and I hope my neighbor does,” said Averbeck. “Sometimes, we don’t feel comfortable saying something to someone. This is a way to participate and remind everyone who wants to be sure they are safe.”

To enter it is necessary create a poster, with the message mask up, that represents the community and the university.

Anyone can participate in the contest, there will be a university winner and a community winner.

After the two winners are selected, their work will be shown on campus, across the community and on social media.

The deadline to send the poster is March 19 for instructions and the registration link, CLICK HERE.
