GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – For the second year in a row, Adopt a Senior in Pitt County gives community members a chance to help a senior in high school who may need extra encouragement, financial assistance or support to overcome pandemic and graduate.
The movement started last year to help senior students in high school struggling with the pandemic.
Organizers say schools have been severely affected by the virus, so organizers started the Adopt an Elderly program to put a smile on an elderly person’s face during these difficult times at school and in the community.
More than 1000 seniors joined the group on Facebook in 2020, giving the community a chance to bless them with gifts and whatever they need.
When you commit to adopting a senior student, you have an idea of what he likes and does on a daily basis and gives donors an idea of what the student needs.
Jalil Davis is Adopt a Senior Administrator. She said: “We would love for the community to participate in this movement, to bless the class of 2021, because we don’t even know what the rest of the year will be like. Why not jump in and help, you know? It kind of lights up a little better for them. ”
