Last week, Chris Beard left Texas Tech to become the new head coach of the Texas Longhorns men’s basketball.
Since Beard left to rebuild the Longhorns’ fight program, Texas Tech is already facing consequences. After their decision, key players Micah Peavy and Marcus Santos-Silva entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
These players were the main contributors to the technology this season. Santos-Silva (senior) averaged 8.3 points and 6.4 rebounds as the team leader, and Peavy (freshman) had 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

So, can we see any of these players follow their coach to the Forty Acres? Possibly.
However, Texas Tech recently hired Mark Adams, who can convince them to stay at Texas Tech. Adams has spent the past five seasons as an assistant to the Red Raiders, so his familiarity may convince them to stay in Lubbock to take advantage of the momentum of the past five years.
Between Beard building his new team and players like Kamaka Hepa joining the NCAA Transfer Portal, Texas will continue its transformation into a new era.
As the dominoes continue to fall, stay updated with Longhorns Country for the latest basketball news.
