Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 8 (ANI): India’s leading digital payments platform, PhonePe, said on Thursday that coronavirus insurance has been widely adopted recently, with 75 percent of its policies purchased by customers in smaller cities outside cities. level 1.
This reflects confidence in the PhonePe platform among users in smaller cities and rural areas. The main states that contribute to sales include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Gujarat.
PhonePe offers affordable coronavirus insurance policies in association with Bajaj Allianz General. Claims for more than Rs 3.5 crore have already been paid.
“In the past few weeks, we have seen a resurgence of COVID-19 cases across the country. Many Indians still do not have health insurance and, as a result, may have to incur an additional financial burden in case someone in their family needs to be hospitalized for COVID-19, “said PhonePe vice president and head of insurance Gunjan Ghai.
“With that in mind, we are one of the few players on the market today that continues to offer coronavirus insurance to our vast user base,” she added.
PhonePe is India’s largest digital payments platform, with more than 287 million registered users. It launched several mutual funds and insurance products, such as tax reduction funds, liquid funds and international travel insurance.
It is accepted at more than 18.6 million points of sale in 500 cities across the country. (ANI)
