Square One Community hosting addictions speaker for first Lunch n’ Learn fundraiser – About Your Online Magazine

The Square One community will present Regina’s addiction specialist, Rand Teed, at a forthcoming presentation on April 20

Square One Community Inc. is hosting a Lunch and Learn fundraising event to raise funds for its homelessness program in Moose Jaw, in the hope of combining charity with an educational opportunity.

On April 20, attendees are welcome to join Square One for a Zoom presentation by guest speaker Rand Teed, a Regina-based addiction counselor with over 40 years of experience working with teenagers and adults.

The event will begin at noon, with a presentation by Teed on how addictions can represent a barrier for individuals and their life goals, followed by a question and answer period with the participants.

Teed is best known for his work on developing the Drug Class program used in Regina high schools, writing and presenting the TV series Class of Drugs, and as a substance dependency advisor who has provided experience for several organizations.

He has worked as a dependency advisor in the Regina area for several decades, and has provided his experience for the Regina Detox Center, SADD Saskatchewan Driving Disabled Awareness campaign and SGI’s Driving Without Disability program

Teed also has personal experience with addictions, with 48 years of continuous sobriety, and is a current board member of SAFI Saskatchewan Addictions Foundation, the National Recovery Advisory Council and the CCSMH Cannabis Working Group.

The event costs $ 20 per participant, with all proceeds earmarked for Square One Community programming. As a community organization, Square One aims to offer support and help reduce barriers to services that homeless people face when seeking services.

Registration before the event is required and can be sent by email della@jonesparkview.com or text messages 1 (306) 630-6121. After registration, participants will receive a link from Zoom and information about payment by wire transfer.

A second Lunch and Learn event is already on the calendar, featuring harm reduction advocate Ronni Nordal as a guest speaker on May 4, to talk about how harm reduction is a part of the recovery journey.
