Domestic air travel recovery delayed by 3 months: Ind-Ra – About Your Online Magazine

Recovery for domestic and international travel was delayed by three and six months, respectively, due to Covid’s resurgence, India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) said. The first two months of 2021 witnessed a solid improvement in air travel, after a sharp decline in EBITDAR losses in 3TFY21 as airline operations normalized, the company said.

However, in late March and April there was a sharp increase in Covid’s active cases across India, which significantly impacted air travel and undermined confidence in aviation recovery.

In addition, 2021 brought three new challenges, such as higher fuel costs as oil prices rebound amid growing global demand, increased competition intensity amid the possible restart of Jet Airways operations and likely pressure on airline earnings as the dispute for market share the realignment for the pre-Covid period begins.
