Texas redshirt wide receiver Kennedy Lewis entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report by the Rivals.com. Lewis appeared in a game in his freshman season in 2019 and opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns of COVID-19.
Lewis joined the team as a three-star recruit on the 2019 recruiting course for former head coach Tom Herman. He took a 37-yard pass like a Longhorn.
Lewis was originally suspended from the team in late February 2020 and took classes at community colleges during the spring semester, according to Orangebloods.com, but returned to the team in mid-June. He later opted out of the 2020 season entirely.
Lewis’ absence during 2020 was strongly felt, as the Longhorns regularly resorted to former receivers to take significant snaps at the start of the season due to the lack of depth in the position. He was not listed on the Texas roster for the Spring Orange-White game on April 24.
