Sheffield Unites Team News
Sheffield United suffered a triple injury before tonight’s game with the news that Sander Berge, Oliver Burke and Ethan Ampadu cannot play again this season.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, interim manager Paul Heckingbottom said he did not expect the three to return.
He said Yorkshire Live:
“We caught some minor imperfections and injuries.
“Burke has a fractured foot, which will leave him out for the season.
“Sander caught a little problem in the last game, so we will have to evaluate it until the end of the season, but we will not be taking any chances.
“With Sander, let me emphasize, it has nothing to do with his previous injury, this is 100% good, but just the nature of being out for so long and he is struggling to be in shape. He played moments in games for us and picked up other natural niggles that come with it.
“So we are not taking any chances. If he is in shape, fine, but at this stage of the season, where we are and the fact that he has been away for so long and working hard to get back we will not risk him until the end of the season.
“With Burke, we will be driven by scans of that.
“When you have a fracture in your foot, you may have simple fractures where you put a boot on and let it heal naturally or there are those where you need surgery and pins, so we will be conducted by the examinations and conducted by the medical team.
“Ethan has pelvic problems, which he has had for some time and, of course, most football players, he has managed this throughout the season, but it has gotten worse and worse.
“He will probably be out this season.”
