O Columbus Crew officially moved to its new training center, the OhioHealth Performance Center, on Wednesday.
The state-of-the-art venue – located adjacent to the Historic Crew Stadium – is 42,000 feet away and is home to the club’s football operations, from gym to first team.
The OhioHealth Performance Center includes four fields and eight changing rooms, including two natural grass surfaces that are supported by hydronic and SubAir heating systems. There is also a full-service kitchen and dining area, recovery room, hydrotherapy area, lounges and training rooms and equipment.
“I’m speechless,” said coach Caleb Porter. “I have been following the process of this installation for over a year and have seen the photos and visited them from time to time. But to really see it now as a finished product, it’s indescribable.
“It’s really humbling to know that this is their place of work and where players can train. This is where I can have my office and work day-to-day. It’s really humbling to know that ownership has increased and allowed our players, our technical team, our performance team and our front office to have a facility like this. I’ve been all over the world and seen some of the best installations in the world. This is one of the best installations I have ever seen. It will be a game changer. ”
