Allianz Appoints Chief of Aviation Complaints
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty promoted Cristina Schoen as global head of aviation claims in New York.
Schoen was previously director of airline claims, a role she holds in her new role. She reports to Jim Turano, regional head of long-tail claims, North America, and Jörg Ahrens, global head of major case management (long tail).
Schoen first worked for AGCS as a senior coverage counsel and has taken on roles of increasing responsibility, the company said in a press release. Prior to joining Allianz, she led the airline claims division of the United States Aircraft Insurance Group and held associate positions at Archer & Greiner P.C. and Sweeney & Sheehan, P.C. law firms.
Schoen is recognized as an industry expert in airline emergency response protocol from an insurer’s perspective, AGCS said. She frequently performs at aviation industry events across the country, including those sponsored by the American Bar Association, the Aviation Insurance Association, and the Regional Airline Association. Most recently, she was the keynote speaker at America’s Claims Executive Leadership Forum.
Schoen is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as the United States Supreme Court. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received her jurist from the Villanova University School of Law.
Accur Solutions hires strategy director
Accūrō Solutions, a medical account review provider based in Sarasota, Fla., has named George Furlong as chief strategy officer.
Furlong previously served as senior vice president of managed care for Sedgwick Claims Management. Prior to that, he was the director of business intelligence for Universal Smart Comp. Previously, he served as senior vice president of program development and analytics for Bunch & Associates and previously as vice president of business development and analytics for Choice Medical Management Services. He began his workers’ compensation career in information management and analytics at MetraComp, a subsidiary of United Healthcare.
Furlong holds a BA in Finance and Administration from Rutgers University and is Vice Chairman of the URAC Board of Directors.
ATF Medical Appoints Catastrophic Care Manager
ATF Medical, a supplier of medical equipment and workers’ compensation housing to workers’ compensation insurers, has appointed Reneé Espiritu as catastrophic care manager.
Espirtu will coordinate all medical equipment and supplies and adaptive housing needs for critically injured workers, the Woodbridge, Va.-based company said in a press release. The position is newly created.
Espiritu has 20 years of experience in healthcare, with 15 years of that in managed workers’ compensation assistance, the company said. Most recently, she served as the catastrophic team leader at MTI America. She previously worked for TechHealth, continuing with the company after it became One Call.
