Astros’ Lance McCullers Jr. sharp in rehab start – About Your Online Magazine

Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., on the injured list from bursa bursa fluid found in his right shoulder after his last start in May, was invigorating Thursday night at a rehab performance for Sugar Land Skeeters at Constellation Field.

Playing the first four innings in the Class AAA game against the Round Round Express, McCullers took out 12 of the 14 hitters he saw, including the last 10.

“I felt great,” McCullers said. “I was a little hesitant at the beginning to get my feet wet, but I was very happy with the last 10 or so hitters I faced. I felt my things got a little clearer from the second round. I think my fleece, from what I heard on the bench, was up to 96, which is a great sign, and I managed to get a lot of speed to hit.

“As long as everything looks fine (Friday) after my bullpen, which I’m 100 percent hoping will happen, I’m ready to head back to the club.”
