in the middle of pandemic situation, which is forcing Different boards to cancel or postpone classes 10 and 12 exams, Visva-Bharati University on Thursday, it announced that “the graduate exams of its two schools Patha Bhavana and Siksha Satra will be taken online from July 5th,” a notice said.
The notice was issued at a time when the West Bengal Department of School Education has not yet presented an alternative assessment method for applicants. Madhyamik and Uchchya Madhyamik exams have already been canceled.
At a meeting presided over by the vice-rector on June 8, with the presence of directors, deans, attorneys, dean of student welfare and other employees related to the exams or evaluation process, it was decided that the undergraduate exam Patha Bhavana and Siksha Satra will start online from July 5th, mentioned in the notification. “The hands-on exams will be conducted online and will be followed by school certification exams,” the notice said.
The central varsity team said that the schedule and other modalities of the exams will be informed later. The two exams are equivalent to the final tests of grades 10 and 12 for Visva-Bharati students. Visva-Bharati offers undergraduate (10+2) courses in science and humanities through the university’s two schools.
“While external residential students are admitted to Patha Bhavana, external academics go to Siksha Satra. However, unlike thousands of candidates who show up for the Madhyamik and Uchchya Madhyamik exams, the number of students in the two Visva-Bharati schools will not exceed 200”, said a university official, adding that they would therefore carry out the tests online won’t pose a big problem.
