Duncan Ferguson’s Claim
Some Everton figures are interested in naming Duncan Ferguson as the new permanent coach, according to a football chief.
Nuno Espírito Santo is currently the favorite for the position, having left the position at Wolves at the end of last season. Rafa Benitez is also among the names linked to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
However, Peterborough United Football Director Barry Fry says he has spoken to people behind the scenes at Goodison who are enthusiastic about the idea of naming Ferguson as the new man in charge.
Speaking to Football FanCast, he said:
“The people I speak to are really interested in Duncan taking over. They think he does a lot on the training ground. He has the respect of every player there and every member of the team.
“That would be a brave move on the owner’s part to put you in charge, but sometimes it’s better the devil you know. He’s been there, he’s been everyone’s assistant, he’s slowly learning the game.
“Is it the right time to give him the reins? It wouldn’t surprise me.”
