Although international tournaments dominate football headlines this summer, the hamster wheel transfer rumor never stops spinning.
From some of the top stars, possibly forcing a move from Manchester City, to blockbuster trading deals, we’re here to provide you with your daily update on all Etihad-related transfer stories over the past 24 hours.
Manuel Locatelli – Rumor Rating: 5
As Fernandinho ends his Manchester City career, finding a long-term replacement to join Rodri in the midfield rotation should become an important task for the Etihad hierarchy this summer.
One name that has long been linked to the move to the Premier League club is Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
The 23-year-old spoke about his future, saying it will be decided when he returns to Sassuolo after the UEFA European Championship – where Locatelli has become a key player in Roberto Mancini’s Italian side.
My rumor rating of five is based on the fact that no official conversations were reported. However, Locatelli seems to be a player who would flourish in Pep Guardiola’s system. Don’t be surprised if the ranking of rumors starts to increase as summer approaches.
Raheem Sterling – Rumor Rating: 4
According to reports of Sam Lee from AthleticManchester City forward Raheem Sterling would like to leave the club this summer if the opportunity arises.
After a frustrating year for the England international, there is a feeling he was frustrated at Etihad; and although Pep Guardiola knows that sometimes a player just needs to leave, he appreciates that the 26-year-old continued to push his hardest despite his personal feelings.
Despite reported frustration, Raheem Sterling is not interested in the prospect of being used as a negotiating tool by Manchester City, he says. the Matt Law of the Telegraph.
Although the two north London clubs are interested in the striker, Tottenham would not be able to pay his salary and Arsenal would struggle to finance a deal. To keep his fate in hand, the winger will hold talks with the club about his future at the end of the UEFA European Championship, with the club ready to discuss a new long-term contract.
A rumor rating of four seems sufficient in this situation. While Raheem Sterling may be frustrated after a disappointing 2020/21 season, that doesn’t change the fact that he has been a crucial member of Pep Guardiola’s title winning teams. Furthermore, securing the signature of a 26-year-old with a goal record like his would require an astronomical fee that few clubs can match.
Bernardo Silva – Rumor Rating: 7
While it may come as a surprise to many, Sam Lee reported that midfielder Bernardo Silva would like to leave Manchester City. Sources say he was determined to move to Barcelona last summer and everything was set for that to happen, only to fall in the end, leaving him discouraged.
After two seasons of excellent form for the Portuguese, 2020 and 2021 resulted in a huge drop in the number of contributions to midfielders’ goals, which can be largely attributed to the change in his role in Pep Guardiola’s system.
The coach, however, is reluctant to let Bernardo Silva leave Etihad, due to his performances and candidacy, despite his reported discontent. Although the boss knows he needs to revamp his team, he would be reluctant to see him go, as is the case with Raheem Sterling.

My rumor of seven for Silva’s possible departure comes from the fact that it could be time for an update on the Premier League champions team’s attacking team.
And while Raheem Sterling charges a large sum that most clubs cannot afford, a transfer fee for Bernardo Silva may be in the realm of possibility for some of the clubs who are interested in the fickle extreme.
At the end of the day, Duncan Castles, who has been the man of reference in this saga, further strengthened Barcelona made a ‘informal proposal’ for the midfielder and now has to satisfy Manchester City with a ‘big cash offer’.
Bernardo Silva / João Felix Exchange – Rumor Rating: 7
As stated above, Bernardo Silva insists on forcing Manchester City out. One of the rumored destinations is Atlético de Madrid, and according to the transfer guru Dean Jones, an exchange deal involving the two clubs could be on the table.
According to the reports, the situation of striker João Félix at the La Liga club ‘seems uncertain’, and the Spanish champion’s interest in Bernardo Silva could potentially represent an opportunity for a swap deal.
Another seven-ranking rumor is good in this situation, as Manchester City are looking for a replacement for the late Sergio Aguero, and João Félix looks to be a future star in European football.
From a business perspective, with the two players coming in at a similar market value, a swap deal could ensure the Premier League club can save some of its money for other targets like Jack Grealish.
Exchange offers between Man City / Barcelona – Rumor Rating: 1
Recent complaints have stated that Barcelona and Manchester City may be in negotiations for several big swap deals, including a big deal that would see João Cancelo and Bernardo Silva possibly being swapped for Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto.
And with Sergio Agüero and Eric Garcia already leaving Etihad for Catalonia, some Manchester City fans were perplexed – so much so that some tweeted at the La Liga club offering them the Manchester City emblem and Etihad Stadium!
Despite these reports, some notable journalists intervened to clarify the situation. First, when speaking on the Catalan radio station ‘Que T’hi Jugues’, Lu Martin had this to say,
“I asked in Manchester, they replied, ‘You’re crazy, what’s wrong with you?’
He continued; “It’s been talked about, especially through [Jorge] Mendes. But talking to Man City showed that switching players is unfeasible… ”

To backup this, tStuart Brennan of Manchester Evening News assessed the situation, claiming that the Premier League will not make any exchange with Barcelona involving João Cancelo and / or Bernardo Silva.
The Etihad club ignored the most outrageous claims and rejected the most damaging ones, such as a possible exchange involving the previous two.
With very credible sources claiming that these swap deals are nothing but nonsense, a rumor rating of one is sufficient. Although a rating of zero is also applicable, there is generally no smoke without a fire, no matter how small the fire may be.
In relation to a previous report, Duncan Castles he also makes reference to this thing in his story around Bernardo Silva, that Barcelona are offering Manchester City a wide range of players as part of the ‘FFP Exchange’ promotions.
The list, although quite robust, includes Sergi Roberto, Ousmane Dembélé, Jordi Alba, Coutinho, Clément Lenglet, Trincão, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué.
