In March, Sara Sigmundsdottir, a six-time CrossFit Games athlete and perennial podium contender, suffered a season-ending injury when she ruptured her body. ACL during a split jerk.

Now, nine weeks after surgery, Sigmundsdottir has resumed normal training — she’s just been released to rest gymnastics again, but won’t be able to run until week 16 — she still has a long way to go, she explained.

  • “What’s probably the hardest thing is that everyone I’ve said I have this injury to says the same thing.. ‘Don’t start too early…be patient and bla bla bla,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m going to start again because I’m so scared to start’… The hardest thing is trusting that I’m (following) the right process, allowing me to do things, trying to push the limits of what I can do, but in a smart way. ”

Her partnership with WIT Fitness, a sportswear company, helped her overcome the challenges of getting injured, she explained.
