What details can be found in the credits?

Now, we’re all well trained by Marvel to watch the end credits. This time, it may have had unintended consequences.

Attentive spectators who watched the credits from the foreign market found that Sophia di Martino, whose role has not been revealed until now, is credited as “Sylvie”, not “The Variant”.

Before diving into Sylvie’s possible identity, let’s gather the clues that could mean she no a female version of Loki.

Hair color

“Why are you blonde?” one tweeted, calling attention to a small detail: Loki has black hair, but Variant’s hair is blond.

‘I would never treat myself like this’

Even Loki began picking up some clues that didn’t match everything the Temporal Variance Authority was telling him about Variant being another version of him.

“I would never treat myself like this,” he says at the Roxxcart store when The Variant beats him up using body possession on local residents.

“You really love to hear yourself talk,” someone insults him.

At one point The Variant, speaking through Roxxcart employee Randy, said, “Please, if anyone is anyone, you are me.”

Loki blinks and calls Randy “Loki”. Variant’s response: “Ugh, don’t call me that.”

Who is Sylvie?

Everything we know about The Variant has been provided by the TVA – they love their advertisement in the Miss Minutes house. However, a ton of clues point to “Lady Loki” being connected to Loki in a slightly different way.

Many have linked The Variant, with her blond hair and apparent dislike of Loki, to Marvel comic book character Sylvie Lushton, also known as the Enchantress.

Who is the sorceress?

Loki creates the Sorceress by giving the mortal Sylvie magical powers, including body possession and teleportation, as seen in Loki. You could say she’s Loki’s daughter – her green magic provides even more connective tissue. If you want to delve into Enchantress’ backstory and possible spoiler territory, head on on here.

Loki took on a female form in the comics.

Marvel Comics

Or maybe she really is Lady Loki after all

Here is the other side of the argument.

In the comics, after the destruction of Ragnarok, the Asgardians were reborn on Earth. Ready, Loki assumed a female form.

Loki’s gender is also marked as “fluid” in your TVA file, suggesting he can change at will.

So what should we believe? Is it The Variant Lady Loki or Sylvie, otherwise known as the Sorceress?

Theories ran abundantly during WandaVision – and undoubtedly a percentage didn’t materialize. Marvel can simply pull the rug out from under us again – and again.
